How the Moon looks like last 4.5 billion years ago, and what are the circumstances that happened in along these old years until now.  This is what the NASA trying to answer. NASA created an evaluation of the Moon from 4.5 Billion years ago until now. Thanks to NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we now have a better look at some of the moon's history.

Many other questions remain. For instance, scientists still don't understand why the crust is thicker on one side, or what the Moon's volcanic history is. Lunar Prospector will attempt to answer some of the lingering questions scientists have about the Moon and its history. via

Its parts have to be so accurate that no machinery is of use here. The piston and its cylinder must be hand sanded to perfection, and they are very likely to crack in the process!
